Christmas has always been my favorite time of year. It probably comes from all the stories my Mom has told about what it was like sharing the holiday with 9 brothers and sisters in their family home in Cranbrook. Gramma would cook a Goose with all the trimmings. The kids would gather up their hand sled and walk to the woods to chop down the perfect tree. They would yell "Timber" as it fell to the ground and then sing all the way back home. Homemade ornaments would adorn this tree, and of course presents that were made with loving hands would be under it. My Great Uncle Jack would be Santa for all the kids and he would always fill their stockings with fruit. nuts and some candy treat. Times have changed since when my Mom was a young girl. but family traditions still are with us. Now it's my turn to have the family gather for Christmas Day. This quilt was made with my Mother's family in mind. Let's journey back to a real country Christmas.
